What is a sound bath? ✧

Alana leading an outdoor sound bath with crystal singing bowls, gong and flowers in the hills

A sound bath is an hour of deep, easy rest. You get cozy and let the sound wash over you. Crystal singing bowls and a shimmering gong fill the room with tones you feel in your body as much as you hear them.

There's nothing to do and nothing to get right. You just rest, and let the sound do the work.

Why people come

Most people come because they're tired. The kind of tired that sleep doesn't fix. The mind keeps running, and it's been a long time since they truly let go.

Some come for one quiet hour to themselves. Others come to mark a new chapter or to celebrate. Many come because a friend told them, "You have to try this."

Whatever brings you here, you're welcome exactly as you are.

What happens in a session

You settle onto a mat with blankets and pillows, and I guide a few slow breaths to help you arrive. Then the sound begins. It starts soft, then builds and softens again in waves. You can close your eyes or keep them open. You might drift off, and that's perfectly okay.

When it's time, I gently bring you back. Take all the time you need to get up.

Sound is vibration, and your body is mostly water, so you don't just hear a sound bath. You feel it.

Slow, steady tones give your nervous system a signal that it's safe to soften. Your breath deepens and your heart rate settles. Your brainwaves can drift toward the slower alpha and theta rhythms of deep relaxation, the dreamy space just before sleep.

Research on sound meditation is still young, but early studies found that people felt less tension and anxiety after a single session, along with a greater sense of well-being.

The science, gently

What you may feel

Many people feel heavy and warm, like they're melting into the floor. Some drift into a dreamy half-sleep. Some feel a wave of emotion rise up and gently pass.

Afterward, people tell me they feel lighter. They sleep better that night. And very often, they leave with a smile.

Is it for me? ✧

Yes. If you can lie down, you can do this. No experience needed. You don't have to quiet your mind or do anything right.

Sound baths can be a real gift if you live with anxiety or PTSD. Many people with busy, protective nervous systems find that sound gives them a way to rest that talking or sitting still doesn't. You're always in charge. Keep your eyes open if that feels better, and know you can sit up or step out anytime. If you're healing from trauma, I'm happy to talk beforehand about what helps you feel safe.

A sound bath is a lovely complement to care from your doctor or therapist, never a replacement. If you're pregnant or have a medical condition, check with your doctor first.

Group sound bath space set up for a bachelorette party or family reunion

Sound baths for celebrations & gatherings

A sound bath is one of my favorite ways to bring people together. Everyone rests side by side, and it's a sweet change from the usual plans.

Bachelorettes, birthdays & girls' getaways

Between brunch and the big night out, give your crew one hour to truly relax together. The bride or birthday girl gets a calm moment before the whirlwind. Add the Sunshine Experience, and everyone takes home a crystal gift.

Family reunions & retreats

Grandparents, teens and everyone in between can do this together. No one needs to know yoga or sit still for long. Families tell me it's the quiet, shared moment they remember long after the trip.
